The organization has had to respond to several major changes starting with the pandemic. We're so proud of our team and our members as we were able to create a totally virtual program that kept everyone connected and supported during this global health crisis.
Next, we acquired the Peer Connections Centers and suddenly we were faced with new locations, the integration of a different model and a much larger organization with more and different ties to the East Bay mental health community, including a different funding model.
But we had a pretty important problem – one which was made very clear to me when a donor asked, “Who do I make my check out to?” Who are we in the wake of all this change? That’s when we realized we had an opportunity to update our brand including our name, our logo and our story to reflect our new identity.
THE REBRAND INITIATIVE
This work started with YOU. We interviewed people from the Contra Costa mental health community, from local hospital systems, our Board, donors and most importantly, our members! This was not a top-down or inside out effort. We talked to people who interact with us, rely on us and were able to give us candid feedback about what makes us who we are.
No one tells our story better than members and the family who supports them. We drew our inspiration for our WHY and our new brand from them as you can see in this video.
We defined our what, our how and our why – with a particular focus on our why – the heart of OUR organization. Once we defined our why, our motivation, our passion for this organization, the new name, logo and look and feel, emerged.
We provide a safe, non-judgmental space where people with mental health challenges can build relationships, foster a sense of belonging, and focus more on personal strengths than illness.
WE ARE A WELCOMING PLACE
Members have a stake in their own recovery as well as the success of the organization. Through education, and ongoing vocational experience, members develop confidence and valuable social skills. With a loving community as their foundation, members are positioned to achieve their goals.
ACCOUNTABILITY. STRUCTURE. PURPOSE.
Changing lives – working together on the journey from isolation to integration.
THE CORE OF OUR ORGANIZATION
A critical aspect of our naming strategy is to name the overall organization but also to give each entity within that organization a unique name to identify what they do.
Consequently, Putnam Clubhouse will now be called Connections House.
Peer Connections will remain Peer Connections because they already have connections in their name.
And STAR will become Connections Transit Support.
